My husband, my 2 daughters and I checked into the Ninh Kieu 2 after checking out of a super disgusting hotel nearby, where we stayed for total of about 30 minutes. I had read the reviews of Ninh Kieu 2 online, and so I knew before we arrived there that there was a brothel on the 3rd floor. I was amazed at the amount of disgust some reviewers showed Since brothels are not OUR thing, we simply stayed off of the 3rd floor and we were able to fully enjoy the rest of the hotel.
It's not like the "workers" are going door-to-door! The lobby is impressive, the included breakfast buffet was pretty good the highlight for me was eating actual cereal and milk - though the milk was luke-warm. For Vietnam standards, it was down right luxurious! The bathroom was very nice and spacious with a proper tub and shower, and the beds had fabulous mattresses and proper Western-standard linens that one would see in a nice hotel in the U.
The rooftop restaurant offers magnificent views of the city scape, but the menu looked mediocre, so we didn't eat there. The TV was good and the air conditioner was excellent. The hotel staff were attentive and efficient. We had a nice stay here and were easily able to avoid the 3rd floor, so We had a nice stay here and were easily able to avoid the 3rd floor, so don't let it freak you out! You like to bite dust, to meet unfriendly staff, to have a poor breakfast.
From the outside it looks very fancy and promissing. But in reality this is an out-dated hotel that earns her money on the third floor. There are better option in town. Kim Tho was in our case fully booked. We found also a brand new charming boutique hotel at the bouvelard at the corner across the street of the HCM statue.
I stayed here for one night originally planed to stay for 3. The staffs also tried to pressure us to pay up-front for 3 night citing that the same room might not be available the following days which sounded fishy as the hotel was clearly empty from what I can tell of activities in the lobby and the number of cars, motorcycles parked outside or the lack of.
