I know airport is open for acess to Nha Trang , but my interest is in a day trip in Cam Ranh, car and driver. Any recent visitors able to comment? Have been there many times in the last few years but you will be disappointed.
The airport is all that is left of the US military complex. I was stationed just north of Cam Rahn Bay and went there alot during my 6 months there.
There is a Vietnamese military base there but can't remember what it is. Navy Training facility I think. When you fly in it's eeriy, spooky like. Everything is gone. I did take a few pics of the access bridge that you come over from the old Hwy 1, the old check point block house is still there too.
Bai Dai Long Beach , stretching 10 kilometres, impresses visitors with its pristine beauty, white sands, turquoise waters and shallow shores. The beach is shallow and safe, excellent for children and non-swimmers. Here, you can feast on fresh squid, fish and crab at lower prices than those in the capital city of Nha Trang.
There is also the option of bringing your own food and drinks and renting chairs at VND 5, each. About old US military sites in Cam Ranh If you ''ll be there, I think you remember the old bridge Long Ho bridge. Bai Dai beach is well worth a visit. About 20mins drive from Nha trang city,or Cam Ranh town. Not many tourists go there as they don't know it's there. Also north of Cam Ranh there are some great secluded beaches.
