Detectives arrested a man and woman on suspicion of bringing three young women from Waco, Texas to New Orleans to work as prostitutes, the New Orleans Police Department announced late Wednesday. Detective Kurt Eischen discovered an ad offering sexual services on the website Backpage.
Police say Eischen met with Alexis Keener, 19, who called a second year-old woman to come bring her condoms. The woman willingly gave a statement admitting her involvement in a prostitution ring, according to NOPD.
NOPD said the room was booked by Katrina Walls, 24, who was later detained for questioning and admitted Eddie Sowells, 23, had picked up Keener and the other year-old woman in Waco.
The alleged agreement was that Sowells would get percent of each sexual transaction performed by the women, according to NOPD. Investigators later discovered Taylor Courtney, 19, was also involved in the prostitution ring. Sowells is charged with being relative to pandering, possession of stolen property and human trafficking. Courtney is charged with being relative to stolen property. Keener is charged with being relative to prostitution. Walls is charged with being relative to promoting prostitution and relative to letting premises for prostitution.
