This program serves under the auspices of both the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics and the UofL Cystic Fibrosis Center CF Center , an umbrella program that includes services to both pediatric and adult populations with cystic fibrosis in Kentucky and beyond. Early on, the CF Center team recognized that adults with cystic fibrosis represent a separate patient population with its own needs and expectations.
Allan Ramirez. Later, Dr. Nemr Eid in Pediatrics, dieticians and nutritionists, among others, the CF Center has turned into a multidisciplinary patient-centered enterprise devoted to providing the best quality care to patients. Its focuses include educating patients, relatives and the community in general about cystic fibrosis; and fostering the innovative clinical and basic research needed to advance knowledge in this area. It was established to provide adults with cystic fibrosis access to the latest diagnostic and treatment advances in the area of cystic fibrosis.
