A man has been arrested in the killing of his wife at their Pompano Beach home where two young children were found alive, authorities said. Philip Edwards, 31, was arrested on charges including second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, Broward County jail records showed.
Broward Sheriff's Office officials said deputies responding to a call of a woman who had been shot at an apartment at Gardens Drive early Monday found the body of year-old Kathi Blankenberg.
Deputies also found twin infant girls inside the home. They were unharmed and believed to be related to the victim. Officials said Edwards initially claimed he had found Blankenberg shot inside their home.
But after executing a search warrant, deputies found several firearms, including the murder weapon, inside Edwards' car, officials said. In bond court Tuesday, Edwards identified himself as the father of the infant twin girls taken from the scene Monday.
Edwards was being held without bond Tuesday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available. Skip to content. Broward County. News You Should Know 2 hours ago. Sarasota County 3 hours ago. This article tagged under: Broward County Pompano Beach. Back to Article. Close Menu.
