This was in one of the magazines awhile back but the Slut of Springfield scene isn't what won Kim Zimmer the Emmy for that year.
It wasn't on her reel because it had too much other material on that episode when she didn't have dialogue.
Wow I did not know that. I had always heard that's the reason she won. Thanks bl. It's so overdone, and Zimmer has done better work. You know what, I'll buy the "it was the 80's argument," but I still don't like it. She is stripped down to the bare bones, yet she's still got strength and conviction!! This is truly an iconic scene. Most scenes on today's soaps don't even come close, unfortunately.
It's just a shame that Robert Newman never won one!! And I do agree that the 80s were defined by camp and overly dramatic dialogue, but that's part of what made it such a glorious decade for the genre. Deleted User.
