A dearth of planning has meant that this walk is now a walk along a hugely congested eight lane highway. Not good for lungs or soul. Nothing special. Just a paved path alongside the ocean. Fills in an hour or so. Montevideo central is worth more of your time. A nice road, broad sidewalks shared by walkers and cyclists. Great for a walk along the coast in Montevideo! A wonderful place for a safe walk, stay on the river side of the road and walk your feet off.
There is always something going on to look at from fishing, volleyball or just the waves. Be careful of the made cyclists as I nearly Several kilometers Long and a great place to people watch. High end neighborhoods along the way.
No swimming but as our guide said you can fish or commit suicide. I think she was kidding? My wife and I took advantage of the wonderful view and street art as we strolled around what we would call a boardwalk.
Excellent experience. Rambla is a very good idea but there isn't enough to do unless you are into running or cycling. We have visited a couple of times during our stay and you can only walk so far There are some parts of it where the surroundings are The length of montevideo ramble is great, like this one is passing different quarters of the city. Lovely evening walk watching the sun set and folks fishing.
