I was here for over a week during August I have no complain about the hotel but its location is far from ideal. The street Dolapdere is know for its prostitutuion although I did not see any. Also, those at the front desk speak poor English. If you require anything unusual directions, transfers, etc it is a real pain to communicate. In my opinion, there are better hotels near Taksim. I had visited Istanbul in July, and stay in this hotel for 5 nights, which I picked throw the comments of the tripadvisor's visitors.
Same as I said in the tittle, the hotel is new and clean. But regarding the stuff, only the employees at the reception counter can speck English and other stuffs couldn't. Also hotel had placed in the really bad street full of car repair shop.
Although, hotel has lots of good features such as a free shuttle to Taksim Sq. Just another disadvantages was the room service, because doesn't place any toothbrush and toothpaste. But totally, this hotel is a top average hotel to stay, with a good services in a such a nice city. I and my wife stayed in dora hotel for my hony moon. The rooms was very clean. Staf was very freindly. Breakfast was very delicious and variety. Room cleand every day. Mini bar was free and sharj every day. But was distance to taksim sqr.
Hotel have free shuttle to taksim. We have giid time in dora hotel. Conveniently located just 7 minutes on foot from Taksim Sq. The free taxi to close-by locations was a nice touch. The view from the fourth floor was quite interesting: window mannequins of all shapes and sizes : On the downside, our room was not properly cleaned. Especially the bathroom needed to be more thoroughly cleaned daily. Overall, a good choice for our four-night stay at Istanbul.
My wife and I were staying there for 3 nights from Jul 05 to Jul 08 at the room I had also a trip to Istanbul 3 years ago with my brother and knew the fact there is many 5 star hotels with worst service anyone can imagine. We were said Dora Hotel is a 4 star hotel so I was not expecting much from that. I really got surprised after staying there. Really more than what I was expecting and much more than a 5 star hotel in Istanbul. Check-in was as fast as possible, We got into the room after 5 minutes.
