This park is terrible, poor maintenance, filth and lots of drunk people. The cars double park with This park is so beautiful and relaxing i went there with my patner and we realy enjoy our'us time' would recommend it to others. The craft fair was okay;but i suspect many locals stay away because the area has become run down. I live in PMB and this is certainly not a tourist attraction. It is filthy Dirty full of litter. No one cares the grass hasnt been watered in years let alone the Flowers.
Unfortunately it was damaged during a storm but our so called Municipality doesnt have the inclination in repairing it. So it was torn down and forgotten. Such a shame that our History and our past means so much that it can be put into the Rubbish so easily.
This is now a place for Drunken brawls, Prostitution, Drugs and Crime. So stay away at all cost. Such a shame that another Gem has been allowed to die. As the other reviewers have said, this used to be a very nice Park to go to, It boasted many beautiful gardens, but like the rest of Pietermariztburg, it has been allowed to become run down, unkept, dirty, and comes with an air of "What's hiding in the bushes?
