The function of the Fairfield University Department of Public Safety is to ensure that the entire university community stays as free as possible from crime, while pursuing their academic endeavors to the fullest.

This report contains a summary of Fairfield University's Department of Public Safety policies and procedures along with crime statistics as required. A copy of the report may be obtained by contacting the department at , or stopping by the office located on the ground floor of Loyola Hall. The office is open 24 hours a day, days a year. Logs for previous years are available upon request.
The StagAlert system is able to send messages simultaneously as voice calls, text messages, and e-mail messages. Depending on the nature of the situation, any or all of these methods may be used to communicate with the intended recipients. Department of Public Safety has a full time staff of Officers conduct foot, vehicular, and bicycle patrols of the campus and resident areas 24 hours a day, days a year.
All student, faculty and staff vehicles must be registered with the Parking Office located on the ground floor of Loyola Hall. First-year and sophomore resident students are not authorized to have automobiles on campus including weekends. Students who violate this policy will lose their privilege to register cars as juniors.
