The "push" is simple; it's my desire to take a vacation, i. For me, the increased incidents of cartel activity out in the open, and especially where tourists hang out, speak to a change in mind-set by the "baddies".
It appears that they no longer care that their nefarious activity may impact tourism. These incidents are happening in such locations and manner that, IMHO, it really is just a matter of time before a tourist gets hurt or worse.
And, in direct correlation to that, the pull of other tropical destinations is increasing. Right now, I have zero "push" to move from my nice, quiet, suburban neighborhood. You can bet that if we did, my "push" factor to move would skyrocket and I would relocate, either to another neighbourhood or out of Calgary altogether, notwithstanding the aggravation and expense involved.
The important factor here is that to change where I live would involve significant hassle and expense; choosing a difference vacation destination is very, VERY easy.
