I have been to Mexicali on several occasions last year as late as November and felt safe, but these latest round of warnings do seem stronger than usual mentioning prostitution areas. Has anyone lately found any reason for concern going to Mexicali? What makes Mexicali safer than Nogales?
I can understand the difference between TJ, but I wouldn't have expected problems in cities that are in Baja California. I have no idea why the advisory mentions prostitution areas since in Tijuana the Zona is probably one of the safest areas since there have been no shootouts to date. I am a gringo that lives in Mexicali every other week and have never ever felt fear here.
There is no turf war going on here between the drug cartels. And as far as prostitute zones go, the entire city of Mexicali is a prostitute zone. Anywhere you go you are close to a bar that has putas!!! Went to the zone last night. Mexico has not adjusted yet to daylight savings time so it is earlier there which means the girls get out later.
Many new women working the streets so my roving eyes are on notice and Jack sees a few young spinners he must add to his list of to do's.
