The Canal was a nice walk during the day. The trees give much needed shade during the hot day. The view is beautiful. I was lucky enough to be pulled into a Tai Chi session. Do NOT go through the canal after dark.
I made this mistake when I wanted to go for an evening walk by my hotel. The park becomes the red light district at night whch I guess makes sense considering the high number of hotels in the area I did one block and had multiple offers. I am not sure about the park, I suppose the whole area is considered a park? However, Walking along the canal "river" is nice. Best place to start is from Momotorodori, 5 mins from Okayama station.
There are some bronze and stone statues along the way. Once there, there are wonderfully crafted stone works, the pathway and some areas to sit to name a few. It's a nice stroll in the city.
