On a warm, sunny day in Munich, the English Garden is where you want to be. This is where you will see the busy residents of Munich take a break and let loose.
With so many different things to do here and the perfect vibes, this is one of my favourite places in the city. The English Garden is divided into two parts, separated by the Isarring, a road that goes through the English Garden.
The southern part is the most popular section of the park and here you will find exciting activities such as:. Surfers surf the wave for as long as their balance holds up. Those brave souls there always have a crowd judging their abilities.
Here you will find the naked sunbathing area. Considering the use of the area, forgive the lack of pictures. Apparently and not surprisingly people get very angry if you take pictures here. It is a popular place for locals and tourists alike. A popular man-made lake where you can rent paddleboats. The southern part of the English Garden is great if you want to see people and enjoy activities.
But for me, the northern part is where I feel more at home. Like the southern section, the northern section also has two beer gardens, the Hirschau, located at the southern end of the northern section which has a playground so parents can drink a beer while watching their children. At the far north end of the English Garden is Aumeister. Both are popular with locals. Near the Hirschau and Tivoli-Kraftwerk is where games of ultimate Frisbee are played on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, organized through ToyTown, a website for expats.
