A grime artist allegedly imprisoned and repeatedly raped four young women over two years, forcing one victim to call him Skepta, a jury has been told. Andy Anokye, 32, who performs under the stage name Solo 45, allegedly told the woman to call him by the British grime artist's name while he carried out the brutal attacks on her. Anokye denies the 31 charges against him at Bristol Crown Court.
The charges include five counts of false imprisonment and 22 counts of rape. Anokye also denies two charges of assault by penetration and two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The court heard how the musician often filmed the alleged attacks on his mobile phone, the court heard.
Mr Quinlan said the musician had "imprisoned, assaulted, sexually violated and raped four women". The jury was warned they may find the evidence in the trial "unpleasant and upsetting". We promise you that to show it is not gratuitous but necessary," he said. It is alleged Anokye waterboarded one of the women and threatened to electrocute her.
He also is said to have driven a woman to an isolated area in a woods, told her to remove her jewellery and any identifying feature telling her she would be shot. One alleged assault involved Anokye pouring bleach into a woman's mouth. He also stabbed her in the leg, it is claimed. Anokye made the second woman in the case call him the 'N-word' and call him by Skepta , the court was told.
Mr Quinlan said one of the women reported the abuse to friends and then to police. Anokye was arrested and his mobile phone and laptop were seized by officers, who contacted three other women. He is a sadist who derives satisfaction and sexual pleasure from inflicting pain and suffering on his victims. Mr Quinlan said Anokye will claim that any sexual activity between him and the women was consensual. His music, the lifestyle and perceived glamour associated with it may have attracted them to him, the court heard.
