A Lubbock man was arrested after allegedly assaulting and holding a woman against her will. KAMC news reports that back on May 6 is when a female victim was visiting her friend in the Oakridge Apartments when the incident occurred in the parking lot.
The victim told police that after they entered their vehicle is when both the victim and her friend heard something hit their car. The noise that hit the vehicle came from year-old Israel Edwards who opened the passenger door and pulled the victims friend from the vehicle. After pulling out the friend is when Edwards began choking the victim while onlookers yelled and demanded him to stop.
While the victim fought off Edwards he was able to make it to the driver's seat of the vehicle and drove off once Edwards heard police sirens nearby. The victim fought back against Edwards the entire time he was driving until they arrived at another apartment complex. Edward began hitting the victim with the hilt of a knife in her side before cutting her multiple times and then pushing the tip of the knife into her. Edwards then asked for his brothers gun and after some time was finally given the gun before pointing the gun at the victim multiple times.
After being hit by Edwards multiple times he then attempted to give the victim a hug before asking her not to report the incident to the police. The victim did eventually escape from Edwards and made a report, which was revealed to be one of multiple reports the victim made against Edwards in previous domestic abuse instances. Edwards was arrested and charged with 12 separate charges. If convicted and due to the severity of multiple charges it is possible that Edwards could face a very high sentencing.
