I have spoken to Thomas Cook today surrounding the views on Tripadvisor and the seemingly ongoing problem with the prostitutes at the resort. Over the weekend, Thomas Cook contacted their reps in resort to enquire about the issue and ask how many complaints the reps have received. When they called me today they said they have actually had no complaints in-resort however acknowledge this doesn't necessarily mean it isn't happening.
So come on people, if you see things like this going on and you don't like it, report it to your rep, let them log your complaint and let them decide what they do next. Moaning on tripadvisor 2 days after you come back that the problem is not being sorted is a waste of time You would have thought that all the people who complained about it on the forum and in their reviews would have reported it to their reps.
Having said that I'm not sure that I would trust all the information coming from a tour operator. I agree bellagio, but it happens all over the world, not just in Cuba. It is after all the oldest profession in the world. Not saying its right. I appreciate some of the reviews have come from Canadian travellers but there were definately british travellers reporting it.
It would be great if some members could say they complained to Thomas Cook so I could go back to them. They have advised me to keep watching tripadvisor and get back to them should the reviews continue in the same vein. We have booked our wedding there so I have a person who personally deals with me from Thomas Cook which is good. Have to say though, when I googled, it certainly isn't a new problem, posts were coming up from and for every resort there is!
I have been to this resort 7 times since it opened back in I normally travel solo and as a older single gentleman believe me if there was freelance "ladies" I would be very high on their target list. I certainly am everywhere else. I can state without reservation. This last trip I looked very hard for any sign of freelancing and did not find any. They keep a very low profile and with out looking hard I wouldn't have seen them.
