The hotel is nothing special, no personality really, but the rooms are nice and the free breakfast is good. It's also inexpensive. Every morning there were a handful of skeezy old men eating breakfast with prostitutes, which is sweet I guess, but I would prefer to support businesses that takes a stronger stance on exploitation of women and children.
The Silver River was a last minute booking and we couldn't have been happier. The rooms are clean and quiet - the streets of Phnom Penh are not, so it was nice respite from from the bustle of the city. The staff were lovely and nothing was too difficult. It is in the trendy street with lots os bars and cheap cafes. It is within easy walking distance of the Palace and National Museum.
When you get there if there is a balcony room available on the 4th of 5th floor - it is worth paying the extra for the views. I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were excellent , the rooms good and excellent value for money. Included breakfast but was never up in time to try it, however the street the hotel is on is full of great eating places. I will return here on future visits to this great city. Let me say that the staff of this hotel is it's major asset, they may not all speak English very well but, they are approachable, accomodating and unfailing helpful.
The manager is onsite and is a very visible presence. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to any traveller. My friend and I took breakfast in the morning which included fresh fruits, juice, bread, rice and pancakes, cereal, breakfast sausages etc etc. The coffee is an experience in itself in that it is like 'mud' but drinkable and fresh milk is available but mostly uncommon outside main cities.
We requested Room which we were allocated on our return to trip to PP, we initially were given Rm It might be noted that near Silver River Hotel there is a disco in the surrounding neighbourhood. The disco runs from late pm to early am - it's 'thump, thump. If you can live with this it's OK, otherwise take ear-plugs. We had dinner in the restaurant a number of times and always enjoyed our meal, happy hour was always welcome. Overall the hotel is fairly centrally located and within walking distance of most major attractions in Phnom Penh.
