A woman has accused Jetstar staff of 'slut-shaming' her for wearing an 'inappropriate' airport outfit, just moments after telling her off for sitting on her boyfriend's lap. Writer Serah Nathan was approached by an airline employee while she was waiting for her flight to Melbourne from Sydney on Sunday morning.
The year-old told Daily Mail Australia she was asked to move into her own seat because her behaviour was inappropriate and could offend nearby families. She also claims the Jetstar staff member didn't like what she was wearing, which was a tank top tucked under her bra, and grey tracksuit pants. Ms Nathan said she felt 'slut-shamed' and insisted she hadn't done anything inappropriate when saying goodbye to her boyfriend, who she won't see again until Christmas.
Serah Nathan pictured said the customer service team member's response to her complaint made her feel 'powerless and frustrated'. I'm well aware that if I I expressed emotion security would have been called and I could have missed my flight home. She claims the Jetstar employee told her: 'I doubt you'll be able to board your flight dressed like that. A Jetstar spokesperson rejected her version of events, saying the company had no tolerance for discrimination to customers.
Ms Nathan claims the experience went from bad to worse when she sent through a photo of the outfit she wore to the airport and the complaints officer responded by telling her she was 'very beautiful'. The person then agreed with how ground staff handled the situation, and said such body language should be reserved for behind closed doors. Jetstar told Daily Mail Australia the response was not standard procedure and that it's investigating the matter. Ms Nathan shared screenshots pictured of her conversation with a Jetstar team member where she was called 'beautiful' after sharing photos of herself and explaining the incident at the airport.
