Fatmir and Sofi' s house is really special place. Full of kindness,hospitality and nice conversation! See you soon! I only miss not seeing Dori because her family were amazing hosts! Although father and mother do not speak very good English, they did everything possible to make our stay pleasant on our way in Albania. If you are in the region, there's no better place to stay. They even went to look for us in the neighbourhood with a flashlight because we were very late and had no phone reception!!
The place is wonderful, very close to the centre and still on a quiet small road. Everything was perfect. Dori and her Parents are just the best hosts we have ever encountered via Airbnb. We spend a great time at their place, having Dinner together with the family. All family members are extremely kind and helpful and we had good conversation too. Don't travel Albania without passing by here!!! We had no expectations when we booked a night in Albania on very short notice.
Travelling in the Albanian mountains at night can be both ennerving and unsafe; people are walking literally on the freeway and motorway, there are no lights, the roads are arguably of horribel quality. We were therefore extremely pleased with the hospitality and warm welcome to the household of Fadmir Shahaj and his wife.
Their English speaking daughter was in London at the time and she was communication via email, SMS and phone to guide us in. Shahaj speaks English at an understandable level and we had no problems regarding communications. Albania suffers from a complete breakdown of public services in the area, and there is a lack of both electricity and water. This means you fight each morning with thousands of others to grab a morning shower before it literally runs out.
I tried a shower at am and had no luck. At 43 degrees this can be a sad surprise. The Shahaj's building is well kept, all things considered, is large and spacious with a closed and walled-in coxy garden. They also offer a locked car parking space behind a wall and gate, which to me was the best and most valuable surprise of the entire stay, travelling with a Western European registered car. Unfortunately, car theft is a huge business in Albania and surrounding countries.
